Natural Photo — Website
A camera launch told through light, motion and a film look you can try.
Description
I designed and built the launch site for Natural Photo, my iPhone camera. It's for people deciding whether to download the app: they can follow a visualization of how the camera develops a photo, then try its film looks on sample photos.
More context
The site opens on a black stage, with the phone visible only where light falls across it. Natural Photo is a camera about light, so I made light the first thing a visitor meets: one lit object and one headline. Scrolling then turns the phone to show its camera screen, so the product appears before any explanation.
To explain what happens after the shutter, I drew the process as one connected machine, so every step visibly follows from the last. As you scroll, red, green and blue light travels from the lens through the sensor's mosaic toward the next stage, with a short caption for each. It's an explanatory visualization, not the camera's raw processing running in the browser.
Film looks are easier to judge on a photograph than from a description. Visitors choose one of nine looks and one of three photos, and the browser processes that photo live, with each change sweeping across the frame as a bright band of light. I build each look's color table in a background worker and load the heavier sections only as visitors approach them.
